Nature Walk

There is an abundance of historical and ecological treasures along the 6+ miles of trails at Wabash & Erie Canal Park, and we want you to know more about them! These monthly walks are free to the public, open to all ages and skills, and mostly on flat terrain and crushed stone trails. The length ranges from less than a mile to nearly two miles, but you can join for whatever duration makes sense for you.
These walks will be led by Canal Park’s knowledgeable and welcoming volunteers. Check out the schedule for the year, or you can get more information on our website: https://wabashanderiecanal.org/series/nature-walks-2026/
On May 23, join your guide David McCain for a scenic and informative walk through Canal Park and to the newest exhibits under construction, the Delphi Bayou.
This walk will explore the natural and historic amenities of Wabash & Erie Canal Park, and all ages are invited to participate. There is some uneven terrain, but the walk is otherwise mostly flat and manageable over grassy and stone surfaces.
The group will depart from the Wabash & Erie Canal Park Interpretive Center at 2:30pm, and be sure to enjoy the opening festivities of Canal Season 2026 taking place the same afternoon!
