Resurfacing to Close SR 18 Between Brookston and U.S. 421

WHITE and CARROLL COUNTIES – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that State Road 18 will close Tuesday, April 16, in White and Carroll counties for a resurfacing project.

The road will be closed between the Brookston town limits (Brackney Street) and U.S. 421 until early October. During that time, however, traffic from cross streets will be permitted to cross over SR 18 when work is not taking place at that location.

State road detours must use state-maintained roads only. Eastbound drivers on SR 18 will be detoured north on State Road 43, east on U.S. 421 and then south on U.S. 421 back to SR 18. Westbound drivers on SR 18 will be detoured north on U.S. 421, west on U.S. 421 and south on SR 43 back to SR 18.

Drivers in Northwest Indiana can monitor road closures, road conditions, and traffic alerts at any time via the District’s social media channels: www.Facebook.com/INDOTNorthwest or Twitter @INDOTNorthwest. Or visit http://www.trafficwise.in.gov for INDOT’s TrafficWise Traveler Information Service.
